How it works

A documented, repeatable method, so you know exactly what was tested and how. It follows the W3C’s Website Accessibility Conformance Evaluation Methodology (WCAG-EM).

  1. Free snapshot and findings letter

You send your website address. We run an automated scan of up to 10 key pages and send a one-page letter that explains, in plain English, what we found and what it likely means. There is no charge and no obligation.

  2. Scope and flat quote

We agree on what will be tested: your main page templates, key tasks such as paying a bill, reading an agenda or submitting a records request, and a sample of your documents. You get a flat written quote. Most small sites fit our standard audit.

  3. Evaluation

Every audit combines automated and human testing:

    • Automated scan of the whole site using open-source tools built on axe-core and Pa11y.
    • Keyboard-only testing of every task in scope: can you reach, use and see every control without a mouse?
    • Screen reader testing on Windows, Mac and iPhone.
    • Zoom and reflow at 200% and 400%, and on a narrow phone-sized screen, plus Windows high contrast.
    • Color contrast, forms, error messages, headings and links checked against each WCAG 2.1 A and AA success criterion.
    • Document sample: tagged structure, reading order and alternative text in PDFs, checked with tools such as PAC and Acrobat, plus manual review.
  4. Report and board memo

You receive a findings spreadsheet, a one-page board memo, a dated readiness plan, letters for your platform vendors and a draft accessibility statement. Each finding says who owns the fix. On many small sites, a lot of fixes belong to the platform vendor, and the vendor letters help you ask for them. Joe signs off on every audit before it’s delivered.

  5. Re-test and monitoring (optional)

After your vendor makes fixes, we re-test and update your evaluation summary. A monthly plan keeps watch as new pages and PDFs are added, so you stay on track after the deadline.

What we won’t do

  • We won’t claim your site is “certified compliant.” No such official certification exists. We document what was tested and the results as of a stated date.
  • We won’t sell or recommend overlay widgets as a fix.
  • We won’t publish your results or name your organization without your written permission.
